The Restaurant

My friend Chris said that there is this IceCream shop that is 10x better than the one on Lygon (Il Freddo), and has topped most of the chart of yummeh IceCream places in Melbourne, and here we are!

And Indeed, the serving of the icecream is very generous compared to other IceCream vendors in Melbourne and gosh they are simply delightful and smooth!! :) And they have funky and different sets of flavours too compared to other shops.

Unassuming exterior of Jock's Ice Cream :) People actually came and checked out the shops even before it was opened! :)

Jack's Premium Black Label - We tried this. And it is extremely rich ZOMG!! :D
Baked Apple - This is not bad too! :)

98% like on Urbanspoon and I havent heard a single word about this restaurant before my friend Kimberley recommended this restaurant for Sunday brunch.

And it is only 8 minutes walk from my place at Victoria Market!

This unassuming restaurant is engulfed in nearby neighbourhood houses. A cornershop, a relatively smaller restaurant, with a few outdoor seatings.

What to Eat?

The menu of Beatrix is quite limited. Or I should say Very limited (only 3-4 dishes are on) + specials each day.

But with that being said, Beatrix claimed to dish up each items on offer Fresh every day :) and naturally it took them quite a while for the food to be tabled. (like 15-20 minutes?)

And I should have tried their pastries besides their Ciabatta!!!
Picture
A cup of Mocha, anyone?? Still can't beat Di Bella Roasting Warehouse (which is just a few minutes away).
Picture
Fancy a cup of Cappuccino?
Picture
I tried The Chachi - Chianina White Beef and ricotta meatballs braised in tomato with fresh mozzarella, basil and balsamic roquette. You could feel their sincerity in the meatballs making! The meatballs are so uhmm solid? They tried to give you as much meat as they can in a meatball! :D despite the fact that i would appreciate more sauces :O
Picture
Boon tried the Shakshuka- spicy braised tomato and peppers, fried egg, fetta and mint.

The Restaurant

After a dinner at South Yarra, my friends Jacey, Yu Jie & Jason suggested to go to this place for desserts. And I must say, their cakes are simply spectacular!!!!

The restaurant were packed at 9pm. We were lucky enough to squeeze into a table for five :) The service was superb and fast. Since we only ordered a bottle of Moscato & two pieces of cakes and sat there fore 1.5 hours or so, (normally the restaurant will signal you to get out of their busy restaurants LOL), the waitresses refilled our water glasses even before we finished them :)

Shall come back next time for their Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner menu + Desserts again :)

What to Eat?

A glass of Moscato for the night? :)

Sienna Tiramisu $12.50 in an elegant glass! :) YUMMEH!!!!!!!!!
Picture
The king of the night - Chocolate Fudge Cake served warm!!! :) It is so rich but not too sweet and it is just to die for :DDD

The Restaurant

BIRDMAN, what a unique name :)
As such, their restaurant deco and website design are well and truly reflecting this. (It could get a little scary I must admit).

At the corner of the street when the tram to Brunswich Street turns, which is pretty convenient and accessible by tram, we took a stroll here from Royal Exhibition Building instead. Not a bad morning walk and lots of interesting shops and restaurants :)

What to Eat?

We could have tried their famous baked eggs, but they are $20!! Haha, so we opted for something else:
Picture
Mocha babe!
Picture
A big glass of Hot Chocolate. If you think it is diluted, think again. After stirring, it is quite sweet and thick! :)
Picture
El Grande Cerdo $18.5- Black Pudding with bubble & squeak, poached eggs, toast and pear & date chutney. Seems like a lot of things is going on in one dish :D The Black Pudding is well cooked but too bad I m not a big fan of Black Pudding.
Picture
Welsh rarebit.$9.50 We thought the name is interesting and hence ordered it. It turned out to be cheese on toast with sprinkle of onions. A bit disappointed :O
