98% like on Urbanspoon and I havent heard a single word about this restaurant before my friend Kimberley recommended this restaurant for Sunday brunch.
And it is only 8 minutes walk from my place at Victoria Market!
This unassuming restaurant is engulfed in nearby neighbourhood houses. A cornershop, a relatively smaller restaurant, with a few outdoor seatings.

The menu of Beatrix is quite limited. Or I should say Very limited (only 3-4 dishes are on) + specials each day.
But with that being said, Beatrix claimed to dish up each items on offer Fresh every day :) and naturally it took them quite a while for the food to be tabled. (like 15-20 minutes?)
And I should have tried their pastries besides their Ciabatta!!!
A cup of Mocha, anyone?? Still can't beat Di Bella Roasting Warehouse (which is just a few minutes away).
Fancy a cup of Cappuccino?
I tried The Chachi - Chianina White Beef and ricotta meatballs braised in tomato with fresh mozzarella, basil and balsamic roquette. You could feel their sincerity in the meatballs making! The meatballs are so uhmm solid? They tried to give you as much meat as they can in a meatball! :D despite the fact that i would appreciate more sauces :O
Boon tried the Shakshuka- spicy braised tomato and peppers, fried egg, fetta and mint.
BIRDMAN, what a unique name :) As such, their restaurant deco and website design are well and truly reflecting this. (It could get a little scary I must admit).
At the corner of the street when the tram to Brunswich Street turns, which is pretty convenient and accessible by tram, we took a stroll here from Royal Exhibition Building instead. Not a bad morning walk and lots of interesting shops and restaurants :)
Birdman's interior :)

We could have tried their famous baked eggs, but they are $20!! Haha, so we opted for something else:
Mocha babe!
A big glass of Hot Chocolate. If you think it is diluted, think again. After stirring, it is quite sweet and thick! :)
El Grande Cerdo $18.5-
Black Pudding with bubble & squeak, poached eggs, toast and pear & date chutney. Seems like a lot of things is going on in one dish :D The Black Pudding is well cooked but too bad I m not a big fan of Black Pudding.
Welsh rarebit.$9.50 We thought the name is interesting and hence ordered it. It turned out to be cheese on toast with sprinkle of onions. A bit disappointed :O
- Hidden in Melbourne CBD is this little gem (I have to use Google Map to get to this place!) - They made cute coffee arts (we saw pirates; bunny; leaves etc etc :D) - Service of coffee is a bit slower than usual but the reasonable price and yummy bagels made up for it!
Rankins Lane, spot the Manchester Press sign! Photo: Shaun Lee from Meld Magazine
What to Eat?
BAGEL BAGEL BAGEL!!!
Hot Chocolate :) I've FORGOTTEN TO TAKE the picture of my Chai Latte (or they amusingly call it Kamasutra HA!)
I ordered an open bagel with soft boiled eggs & salmon. It is actually pretty filling! Salmon's texture is awesome but the combination of everything is a bit salty for me. TRY their Churizo Bagel!!! Heard it is awesome toO!
They have lunch options too: this is You Blue Me Away ie Coffee and blue berry bagel :)
What can I say? This is a really cosy restaurant! The internal layout and design is superb. Garden-themed, you feel like you are dining in a garden instead of a restaurant. Head down here for a different dining experience. And did i mention that the price is very affordable as well! :)

Mushroom risotto served in a bowl :O Pretty creamy! :)
Came here for our "First Date" :) Was hoping to taste the award-winning "Snickers"- Caramel Parfait Glace with Salted Peanut Caramel and Milk Chocolate Mousse by Il Fornaio's masterchef , but was disspointed to find out that the dessert is no longer on the menu as the chef has left the restaurant :( This was a little over a year ago back in 2010 :)
But recently the dish is re-introduced into the menu again and it's time to give that a TRY! :)
What to Eat?
The Snickers!!!! OF COURSE!
Can't really recall what is the name of this dish. Ok, im such a failed blogger.
Salmon on a mint salad? Ha, really sorry it has been such a long time :<
Had my birthday brunch at Three Bags Full. Planned to go somewhere far for my birthday, so ended up at this place. Jasmine put in a reservation for 9 people and the table was ready when we arrived :) Attentive service and good food! :)
Love the design :)
What to Eat?
Hot Chocolate. A bit bland hmmmmm >.<
My usual cup of Mocha is still the best. 2nd to Chez Dre still :)
Big Breakfast! AWESOME! LOVE DA MUSHROOM AND PERFECT SCRAMBLED EGGS AND CHEESE FILLED CHURIZOS AND SESAME BREAD. Basically everything! :D
Atlantic Egg on toast. OMG the sauce nom nom nom*
Steak Sandwich. Nom nom nom*
Chicken Schnitzel. My friend said this is a bit dry Hmmmm.
You know what, I walked past this place on my way to Melb Uni and I barely noticed this little cafe, until my friends pointed it out to me one day, (during my third year of stay in Melbourne). What a shame! Haha. This is a great place to hang out, especially for students, for a quick lunch or coffee. The staff is very attentive and prices are reasonable :)
Nice atmosphere and attentive staff :)
What to Eat?
They changed their menu seasonally! This is as of November :D
My mocha and Ashley's Hot Chocolate. They ran out of chocolate stick. Usually the hot chocolate would have a chocolate stick protruding out from the cup. Should pay a visit here another day to try that!
Crushed pea, mint & spring onion FR egg omelette, whipped feta, beetroot jam with organic sourdough bread sandwich, $11.50. Like the new and exciting flavour :)
Grandmother ham, vintage cheddar cheese, roasted tomato relish with organic grain bread sandwich, with pickle. I chose this dish solely because of the word "grandmother", seriously. But it turned out to be great and cheesey :D
Try their coffee!!! with special coffee bean :D
Breakfast bun, bacon, free range egg, lettuce, semi-dried tomato, hollandaise butter!!! See the egg yolk!! :DD yum
MarT130 is probably one of the earliest brunch places that I have visited. Situated at Stop 130 on Route 96 tram, it is perfectly accessible and convenient.
What to Eat?
My usual mocha :)
Corn Fritters :) Heard this is good and this is INDEED really good :) can eat this everyday for breakkie :)
MarT 130 has a variety of brunch dishes to choose from. Don't forget to check their special menu (written on blackboard) too :) And Salmon is always my favourite :)
A quick lunch at Earl Canteen before flying off to Malaysia.
This place is surrounded by office buildings, and a perfect place to grab your lunch, especially for those who are working.
What not to be missed
PORK BELLY BAGUETTE!!!! We missed this!!!! The pork belly baguette was sold out! :( We went there at around 2pm, probably that's why. So go there early to grab your delicious Pork Belly Baguette, tested and proven by lots of people :D
Complimentary Salad from Earl Canteen :D The vege is a lil too hard for my liking but couldnt complain because it is FREE :)
12 hour lamb :) NICE! :D
Duck Confit :) VERY NICE AS WELL :)
The portion is a little bit too small for my liking (okay I sounded like a big eater). But the service is pretty fast and the food is pretty decent. Great place to try! :D
Hardware Societe is notably one of the most famous brunch places in Melbourne. If you have not been to Hardware Societe, you have not tasted the brunch in Melbourne yet! Ha, the place is hidden at the beginning of Hardware Street (or the end). The restaurant is pretty small and usually full. So prepared to have 5-10 minutes wait :) But the staff is generally friendly. The food is delicious too, just that the portion is little bit too small for my liking (given the price). But with that being say, this is definitely a place worth going!
What not to be missed
Earl Grey. THE TEAPOT IS SO CUTE!!! HAHA
Coddled Eggs & Three Soldiers! YUM YUM YUM.
Special dish on the menu: coddled egg with trout! Nice! The portion is too small for my liking though :P and spot that mug in the center of the pic? It is Hot Chocolate! :D
Finish it off with macarons from Hardware :) Or could just walk along Hardware Lane to La Bella Miette for some seriously delicious macarons :D
Heard that the Pork Belly is one of their best dishes too!!! Should try!!! :D
