I worked at Don Don before. Enough said? There are four branches of Don Don in Melbourne, one along Swanston (the one I worked at, crazily crowded); one near University of Melbourne; one near Lt Lonsdale Street and this one!
This branch is relatively far out from the city, near the Shrine of Remembrance, perfect for a quick lunch after a stroll in Botanical Garden/Shrine, where you watch businessmen rushing in and out grabbing their quick lunch :)
Restaurant is not exactly spacious but is compensated by the service which is incredulously fast (all dishes was tabled in less than 5 minutes after we put in our order, no jokes!!)
What to Eat?
Chicken Curry Don. As usual a generous serving of curry gravy NOM NOM NOM!!!
Mum's Udon (with the beef exchanged with chicken) YES you can swap things around a bit! :) But Chicken with Udon tasted a bit funny. Beef would be better :)
Jeng Jeng Jeng. My Ultimate Favourite Dish: Bento Box. A dash of everything :) Chicken Beef Fruits Salad Rice and It came incredulously fast! Like 2 minutes after putting down the order? :O
Acland St!!! Where you could find a strip of restaurants, especially cake shops with fantastic shop display window (that will tempt you to go inside and have a splurge)!!! Tempting it may look, but it doesn't really taste that great. (mainly because i tink the cakes are on the shelf for too long and it is not as fresh!)
What to Eat?
This funny looking thing is called Chocolate Kugelhopf. We picked this because it looks really funny and interesting! It is so huge we could even finish it!! It is sold according to its weight! :D
Rum Slice. As you can see, it is a bit dry. probably it has been on the shelf for quite some time
Nice & Chic decoration of the restaurant, together with a fantastic macarons and desserts display will keep you wanting more and more!! Plus they introduce new desserts & flavours every now and then, you would not get sick of it!
What to Eat?
MACARONS!!!!!
Macarons TOWER!!! FTW
LuxBite Caramel Slice with Salted Caramel Macaron. FANTASTIC!
Chocolate Slice with Caramel Ball I can eat this all day long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO RICH AND YUMMY!!!
Despite there is a branch at Collins Street, we went all the way to Toorak Road to try this. The display glass window is fantastic and if you are a chocolate addict, it would probably do some damages to your pockets.
What to Eat?
Classic Hot Chocolate made with 60% couverture dark (Creamy and Milky, despite dark chocolate :O)
Isn't this cute?
Hazelnut Fan Slice. THIS IS YUM!!! Crunchy and Rich! Texture is perfect!!
Truffle & Filipino lime flavoured chocolate. Melbournian pays too much for a piece of chocolate?
Came here for our "First Date" :) Was hoping to taste the award-winning "Snickers"- Caramel Parfait Glace with Salted Peanut Caramel and Milk Chocolate Mousse by Il Fornaio's masterchef , but was disspointed to find out that the dessert is no longer on the menu as the chef has left the restaurant :( This was a little over a year ago back in 2010 :)
But recently the dish is re-introduced into the menu again and it's time to give that a TRY! :)
What to Eat?
The Snickers!!!! OF COURSE!
Can't really recall what is the name of this dish. Ok, im such a failed blogger.
Salmon on a mint salad? Ha, really sorry it has been such a long time :<
MarT130 is probably one of the earliest brunch places that I have visited. Situated at Stop 130 on Route 96 tram, it is perfectly accessible and convenient.
What to Eat?
My usual mocha :)
Corn Fritters :) Heard this is good and this is INDEED really good :) can eat this everyday for breakkie :)
MarT 130 has a variety of brunch dishes to choose from. Don't forget to check their special menu (written on blackboard) too :) And Salmon is always my favourite :)
